Hi, I'm Brian. Please hire me.

Cybersecurity M.S. graduate who learns by building. Looking for a technical security role with room to grow.

About

Who I am

A quick snapshot of how I think and what I'm after.

story
A year ago I barely knew anything about cybersecurity. Since then I've built SOAR playbooks, developed an AI-powered intrusion detection system for my graduate capstone, run my own IT business, and set up a Proxmox home lab.
approach
I learn fast and adapt quickly to new tools and challenges. I'm a strong technical problem-solver who works well independently and stays motivated to keep improving.
goal
To not only bring my curiosity, drive, and hands-on work ethic to a technical cybersecurity role, but also launch my cybersecurity career and develop my skillset over time.

Capstone · Streamlit · Scapy · Scikit-learn · deck.gl

Real-time intrusion detection pipeline and analyst dashboard for a live-traffic ML IDS.

▸ click for details and repository
  • Systems Integrator on a three-person capstone, owning the full detection-to-visualization pipeline
  • Built a Scapy capture pipeline that extracts all 78 CICIDS2017 flow features from live traffic in real time and classifies it in short windows
  • Set up a two-VM lab (Kali attacker, Linux Mint target) generating real attacks with nmap, hping3, Hydra, and sqlmap across all five classes
  • Built the Streamlit dashboard: a live deck.gl threat map with animated tracers, Plotly charts, and a filterable alert log for SOC-style triage
  • Wrote a stakeholder executive report in HTML/JS reading from live detection history
  • Integrated the team's 5-class Random Forest (BENIGN, DDoS, Port Scan, Brute Force, Web Attack) into the pipeline via joblib for live classification
  • View the code on GitHub ↗
